Magi Scallion is a passionate, life-long cross-country skier. She learned to ski in the temperate winter conditions on Canada’s eastern coast, and has since migrated to the Rocky Mountains where snow is more plentiful and winter is longer. Magi has raced cross country skiing - skate and classic technique - since she was a young whippersnapper. She competed and medalled in in many national Championships, North American Cup, Canada Winter Games, World Masters Championships, World University games and World Cup cross country ski events. Since retiring from competitive cross country ski racing - save the occasional loppet or World Masters - Magi has pursued and received her Level 3 cross country ski instructor certification in Canada. Her favourite people to teach skiing are adults who are learning the sport for the first time, or trying to take their skiing to the next level.

Skiing with Magi

The cross-country ski sessions will have two focuses: the first being balance and glide, the foundation of cross country skiing! We’ll learn and practice balance and glide in both classic and skate techniques and make sure that each individual has some real take-away lessons and drills to practise. The second focus will be timing and power - once balance and glide are taken care of we can look at taking technique to the next level with finessing timing and applying power.

Ski sessions will be customized to fit the group but expect at least an hour of instruction on technique each day and lots of miles of practice as we enjoy the beautiful trails in Whitefish!
