What you need to know about entering Glacier National Park this summer.
What you need to know about entering Glacier National Park this summer.
How do I get access to Glacier National Park?
All visitors must have a Park Entrance Pass to enter any area of Glacier National Park. A Standard Entrance pass will cost between $20 and $35 depending on your mode of transportation. Annual park passes are $70 and Interagency passes for all national parks as well as Senior passes are also available. Entrance passes can be purchased online or upon entering Glacier National Park.
Does my Entrance Pass give me access to every area of Glacier?
In addition to the Entrance Pass, a $2 Timed Vehicle Reservation is required for two areas of Glacier National Park. The Vehicle Reservation System has been enacted to reduce congestion, improve visitor experience and protect park resources.
What time can I enter Glacier National Park with my Vehicle Reservation and how long can I stay in the park?
Visitors with Timed Vehicle Reservations will enter the park according to the time block they have reserved and can remain in the park for as long as they like on the day of their reservation. Timed entry blocks are available in two hour increments as follows:
What happens if I miss my scheduled time to enter Glacier?
Visitors who miss their reserved time block can enter after 3p.
How can I purchase a Timed Vehicle Reservation?
Timed Vehicle Reservations are available two ways:
Vehicle Reservations can be purchased online at Recreation.gov or toll-free at 877.444.6777.
If purchasing online, visitors will need to set up an account on Recreation.gov and are encouraged to do so prior to the day reservations open. Call centers are open daily from 8a to 10p MST.
How long is my Timed Vehicle Reservation valid?
Vehicle reservations are good for one day only and each of the two areas above require a separate reservation.
How can I see the park without a Timed Vehicle Reservation?
From June 13 through September 28, 2025, visitors without vehicle reservations may enter vehicle reservation areas before 7a or after 3p without a vehicle reservation.
St. Mary, Many Glacier, and Two Medicine entrances do not require vehicle reservations.
St. Mary provides access to Going-to-the-Sun Road driving east to west. Please note that visitors who enter from the east side will not be able to return through the Apgar Check Point without a vehicle reservation between 7a and 3p.
The Many Glacier region will be under construction causing very limited parking in the Swiftcurrent area. Personal vehicle access into Many Glacier will be restricted. A temporary shuttle service allowing hikers to access Many Glacier and Swiftcurrent will be offered from July 1, through Sept 21, 2025. Access to all trails will begin at the Many Glacier Hotel upper parking lot. Detours may add up to an extra mile each way to hiking distances.
For Going-to-the-Sun Road Corridor, vehicle reservations will be checked going east at the Apgar Check Point. Visitors will have access to the Apgar and St. Mary Visitor Centers and park shuttle locations outside of the vehicle reservation area.
Visitors with reservations for lodging, camping, or commercial activities (like boat tours or horseback rides) within the designated reservation areas can use their activity reservation instead of the $2 timed vehicle reservation. However, the activity reservation only grants access to the specific vehicle reservation area where your activity takes place, and only for that day. For example, if you have a boat tour in St. Mary on June 20, you will still need a timed vehicle reservation for June 20 if you're entering through West Glacier.
