Dickens Christmas Dinner

Generations have enjoyed A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. Join us for a traditional 4-course Victorian holiday meal each paired with exquisite wines and accompanied by dramatic readings of the classic tale.

The Lodge is thrilled to offer this special holiday dinner event highlighted by dramatic readings of A Christmas Carol by renown Broadway, film and television actor David Ackroyd.

David Ackroyd is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama and was a charter member of the Yale Repertory Theatre where he played more than 25 roles in three seasons in plays ranging from those of William Shakespeare to Terence McNally. He made his Broadway debut in Phillip Roth’s Unlikely Heroes, and followed with Full Circle directed by Otto Preminger, Hide and Seek opposite Elizabeth Ashley and the Tony-Award winning production of Children of a Lesser God. His many other theatre appearances include six seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Hamlet at the New York Shakespeare Festival, A Soldier’s Play with Denzel Washington, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? opposite Sally Kellerman, and the American Repertory Theatre’s Six Characters in Search of an Author, which he also performed at Russia’s Moscow Art Theatre. He has directed off-Broadway and in regional theatre. In 2003 he co-founded Alpine Theatre Project, right here in Whitefish.

Mr. Ackroyd has appeared in the films Dead On in which he was beaten to death with a shovel, I Come in Peace in which Dolph Lundgren shot him into a fountain, The Mountain Men in which he froze to death in Charlton Heston’s arms, and Raven in which he was blown up by Burt Reynolds. He managed to survive in Billy Crystal’s Memories of Me. He has guest starred on countless television series ranging from Kojak to St. Elsewhere to Xena, Warrior Princess as well as three appearances on Murder, She Wrote and recurring roles on Dynasty, Cagney and Lacey and as Gary Ewing on Dallas. He has starred in more than 25 TV films and miniseries including Natica Jackson with Michelle Pfeiffer for PBS, Poor Little Rich Girl with Farrah Fawcett, Windmills of the Gods with Jaclyn Smith and Sir Ian McKellan, The Dark Secret of Harvest Home opposite Bette Davis, Against the Wall directed by John Frankenheimer for HBO, and Love, Cheat and Steal with John Lithgow for Showtime. His most recent film is The Best Bar in America, an independent film shot in Montana which is currently making the rounds of film festivals in Europe. In 1998, Mr. Ackroyd was awarded a William and Eva Fox Foundation Fellowship for Advanced Study.
