Welcome to our final installment on summer activities at Whitefish Mountain Resort. This weeks post takes a closer look at the beauty of Montana from a distance, or up close (and high!). Whether you take to the 700 foot long boardwalk through the sub-alpine canopy, or up the mountain on a gondola or chair lift, you are bound to capture the allure that makes Montana the Last Best Place and create a once in a lifetime memory.

One of the only treetop canopy tours available in North America, and the first of it's kind in United States, the Walk in the Treetops at Whitefish Mountain Resort opened in 2002, and affords visitors an educational, fun, and absolutely unique experience. A 2 to 2 1/2 hour guided nature walk reveals an in depth look at the local flora and fauna of Montana's mountains that lend to the areas breathtaking and world renown environment by expert forest interpreters.

Guests utilize safety harnesses and ropes as they traverse the suspended wooden boardwalk, reaching heights as far as 70 feet off the forest floor! The Walk in the Treetops includes a shuttle ride from the base lodge to the trail head, a safety presentation, and half mile hike out on an uneven trail. Water and a small snack are provided to visitors as well.

Be sure to reserve your tour soon, as the Walk in the Treetops fills up quickly during summer at Whitefish Mtn Resort! For pricing information, availability, and restrictions, click here!

If phenominal panaramas of Flathead Valley, Glacier National Park, and the Canadian Rockies are on your bucket list, one of the scenic lift rides at Whitefish Mountain Resort is the perfect choice for you! Available by either open chair lift or an enclosed gondola with windows, this 15 minute ride allows visitors sweeping views of the areas surrounding WMR, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a perfect lunch at Montana's only mountaintop restaurant at the summit!

Scenic lifts are one of the longest standing summer activities available at WMR, with the first summer scenic ride beginning in 1950, when single cars were added to the T-bar (A type of ski lift in the form of a series of inverted T-shaped bars for towing two skiers at a time uphill). The first scenic ride to the summit occurred in 1951 on Chair 1. In Expo '86, the 1986 World Fair in Vancouver, the gondola car was first introduced. In 1989, gondola cars were added to Whitefish Mountain Resort. Today, the scenic lift ride along Chair 1 climbs 2,084 feet to the summit!

So grab your camera and your best friends to catch astonishing vistas of Montana! Remember to check pricing and availability, found here!
