Summer at Whitefish Mountain Resort: Zip Line Tours & Alpine Slide

July 29th, 2014 at 9:41am

The second post in our miniseries on Whitefish Mountain Resort's summer activities is all about the wind in your hair. Whether it's a breathtaking cruise on one of the 7 zip lines, or a flight down the mountain on the Alpine Slide, you can be certain that your adventure will be a breeze!

In the summer of 2009, Whitefish Mountain Resort (WMR) debuted the Zip Line Tour, with 5 zips available to start. In 2010, 2 new zips were added and existing zips were extended in 2011 and 2012. Now, with the 7 Zip and 5 Zip tours, WMR boasts both the longest and second longest zip line tours in Montana!

With dual tracks available on every zip, you and your favorite partner can experience an exhilarating excursion through the tree tops, together. Groups are welcome to book together and enjoy a day filled with fun and memories. Heights reaching 300 ft and speeds up to 50 mph combine to create a once-in-a-lifetime escapade that you and your party will be talking about for years to come. See photos and more information on the zip line tours at Whitefish Mountain Resort here.

The resort also unveiled the first and only Alpine Slide in Montana in 2009. Using wheeled carts in which the rider can control their speed, this luge-esque roll down Big Mountain runs a length of 1,605 feet and drops a total of 281 feet. Hand brakes allow for riders to choose when they would like to slow their sled down for one of the 16 banked turns or let loose on straight-aways.

The Alpine Slide at Whitefish Mountain Resort is open to all ages! Wee riders less than 48" tall are provided a free ticket, but they must ride with an adult. For pricing information and restrictions, check here.
